Code of conduct

The standards Fastwave Logistics holds itself to, and expects from the carriers, agents, suppliers, and customers we work with.

Last updated 23 August 2026

Why this exists

Freight forwarding runs on trust and crosses borders, which means it touches customs regimes, sanctions law, labour standards, and safety rules in every country a consignment passes through. This code sets out how we expect our people and our partners to behave. It is not a substitute for the law; where the two differ, the stricter standard applies.

It applies to our employees, directors, and contractors, and we ask the same of the carriers, handling agents, hauliers, and suppliers we appoint.

Honesty in what we declare

  • We describe goods to customs, carriers, and insurers as they actually are.
  • We do not undervalue consignments, split them to evade thresholds, or misclassify them to reduce duty.
  • We do not carry undeclared dangerous goods, and we do not accept assurances we have reason to doubt.
  • We keep records that let any declaration we made be reconstructed and checked.

Bribery and facilitation payments

We do not offer, give, request, or accept bribes, in any form, anywhere, including facilitation payments to speed up routine clearance — which are unlawful under the Bribery Act 2010 regardless of local custom.

Where a payment is demanded under threat to personal safety, safety comes first: pay, leave, and report it to us immediately so it can be recorded and disclosed. Nobody is penalised for a payment made under duress and reported.

Gifts and hospitality must be modest, occasional, openly given, and never offered around a live tender or pending decision.

Sanctions and trade controls

We screen counterparties against the UK, EU, US, and UN sanctions lists, and we screen for controlled goods and dual-use items. We decline business that would breach those regimes, and we decline it without argument. Where a movement raises a diversion risk — an end use or end user inconsistent with the stated purpose — we stop and ask before we book.

Safety and security

  • Drivers' hours, load securing, and weight limits are not negotiable to hit a delivery window.
  • Dangerous goods are handled only by people trained and certified to handle them.
  • Cargo security controls exist to stop tampering and concealment; nobody is asked to work around them.
  • Anyone may stop an operation they reasonably believe is unsafe, and will be supported for doing so.

People

We treat colleagues, customers, drivers, and warehouse staff with respect. Harassment, bullying, and discrimination on any ground have no place here, whether in our own offices or at a counterparty's site.

We require our suppliers to pay lawful wages, respect freedom of association, and use no forced, bonded, or child labour, and we expect them to hold their own suppliers to the same. Credible evidence of modern slavery in a supply chain we touch ends the relationship and is reported to the authorities.

Conflicts of interest

Disclose any personal, family, or financial interest that could influence a decision you take on our behalf — appointing a carrier, awarding a contract, settling a claim. Disclosure is almost always enough; concealment almost never is.

Confidentiality

Rate sheets, shipment volumes, commodity flows, and customer lists are commercially sensitive, and in a competitive market they are valuable to the wrong recipient. Use them only for the job in hand, share them only with parties who need them for that job, and do not take them with you when you leave.

Environment

We measure the emissions of the movements we arrange, offer lower-carbon routings and modal alternatives where they are workable, consolidate where consolidation genuinely reduces emissions rather than merely reducing cost, and dispose of packaging and waste lawfully. We do not make environmental claims we cannot evidence.

Raising a concern

If something here is being ignored, say so. Raise it with your manager, or write to us directly at the address below if that is not appropriate. Concerns can be raised anonymously, are investigated, and are answered.

We do not retaliate against anyone who reports a concern in good faith, including where the concern turns out to be mistaken. Retaliation is itself a breach of this code and is treated as one.

How to contact us

Questions about this code, or a concern you want to raise should go to our team, who will acknowledge within two working days and respond substantively within thirty days.
